Alina D. Sholar, M.D. is an Orange, Texas native who received her BS degree in Biomedical Science with Magna Cum Laude honors from Texas A & M University. She went on to earn her MD degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch on a full tuition merit scholarship. She completed a full five-year residency training in General Surgery at the University of Louisville, and continued her study of surgery by completing an additional residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Sholar is highly trained in all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery, including facial reconstruction after cancer and trauma, reconstructive breast surgery, burn surgery, and aesthetic surgery. She has participated in medical mission organizations such as Project Happy Faces for children with cleft lips and palates. Dr. Sholar has also been awarded memberships into multiple honor societies, and has received the John W. Price Award for Excellence in Medical Student Instruction and the Janet M Glasgow Memorial Award and Achievement Citation for Women in Medicine. She continually seeks to further her knowledge of plastic surgery by participating in national conferences such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, as well as the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

In addition to her more academic endeavors, Dr. Sholar is a medical illustrator and an accomplished artist. Her illustrations have been published in medical texts, such as Current Surgical Therapy, and in journals such as the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Annals of Surgical Oncology. This talent is demonstrated in her ability to create beautiful and natural enhancements in aesthetic surgery.
