Lesley Wong, M.D.

Lesley Wong, M.D., is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, with added qualifications in critical care. Dr. Wong is the author or co-author of numerous articles in professional medical journals, including The Annals of Plastic Surgery, The Journal of Hand Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and The Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, among many others. Her work also appears in a number of books, including Severe Burns: A Family Guide to Medical and Emotional Recovery; Respiratory Injury: Smoke Inhalation and Burn, Current Surgical Therapy; Emergencies of the Head and Neck; and Complications in Trauma and Critical Care.
She has served as principal investigator in a number of clinical trials examining potential advances in wound care and healing. Her research interests range from advances in plastic surgery for breast reconstruction to the mechanisms of bone healing. She is also a frequent lecturer and panelist at national medical conferences across the nation.
She completed a residency in Plastic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University-University of Maryland Combined Program and a residency in General Surgery, serving as Chief Resident at the Manhattan VA Hospital and Bellevue Hospital. She also performed post-graduate studies at the New York University Medical Center for five years after completing her residencies.
Dr. Wong’s expertise accelerated her into a dual role as Medical Director of the Johns Hopkins Wound Healing Center at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and Director of Burn Critical Care at the Baltimore Regional Burn Center. She also served as a Professor of Plastic Surgery in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her appointment to these roles followed two fellowships from Johns Hopkins during the 1980s as a Burn Fellow and Research Fellow.
Just before joining the Medical Cosmetic Center Dr. Wong practiced with The Plastic Surgery Group in Chattanooga, Tennessee and also served as Medical Director of the Burn Unit and Wound Care Center at Erlanger Medical Center. She was also appointed Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Chattanooga Unit, in connection with her teaching in the medical residency programs at Erlanger.
