Liposuction and Body Sculpting
Liposuction, the most popular of all cosmetic procedures, is not a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise, but it can permanently remove unwanted fat deposits from specific areas of the body. The result is an improved and more pleasing body contour.
Candidates include men in good physical shape but have "problem areas" of fatty deposits that resist diet and exercise. The elasticity and tone of the skin contribute to the final result achieved. The most frequently sculpted areas in men are the neck, chin, abdomen, and "love handles".
The procedure involves making small incisions through which a hollow tube (liposuction cannula) is inserted. Fluid is first added to reduce pain and bleeding. Excess fat is removed through the cannula, which is connected to a vacuum. Several areas may be suctioned during one procedure. Liposuction takes 2-4 hours, depending on how many areas are being treated and is usually performed as an outpatient under IV sedation or general anesthesia. After surgery the patient will need to wear a compression garment for 4-6 weeks.
Enlarged male breasts (gynecomastia) affects nearly 40-60% of men, often with no known cause. This condition can be highly embarrassing as well as physically uncomfortable.
Men who feel self-conscious about enlarged breasts may seek breast reduction surgery. The procedure removes fat and/or glandular tissue from the breasts, and in some cases excess skin as well. The result is a flatter, firmer chest.
The body lift is performed to remove loose, excess skin from the torso and upper legs. It offers an improvement in appearance for patients who have lost significant amounts of weight due to diet, exercise or bariatric surgery.
